Aggressive Dog Behavior

Do you recognize aggression in your dog?

Dogs can be very charming and loveable to look at, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be dangerous.

Especially when you don’t know that they’ve developed a habit of biting, you can be sure that your friends or family might be in danger and not just strangers.

Some states require a dog to be put down if they cannot be prevented from biting, and most of these states even require that they be put down immediately even after biting only once. However, you can take comfort in the fact that most dog aggressions can be counteracted and even be prevented right from the beginning.

What Exactly Is Dog Aggression?

Dog aggression does not necessarily mean biting people though; it also includes lunging at people or even just simply barking. Yes, at times they do give off the impression that they’re so cute and cuddly that it’s impossible to tell if they’re really being aggressive. Especially when they’ve developed the habit at an early age, you can be certain that they’ll be much more aggressive when they get older, and that basically makes it harder to repair.

What Are The Causes?

There are many reasons why a dog can get aggressive. Below are some of those reasons.

• Boredom and Anxiety. Basically, dogs don’t like being left alone for very long periods. This leads them to be frustrated and therefore it comes out as aggression when they finally get to interact with people.

• Traumatic experience with other people or especially with other dogs. If the dog’s experiences with strangers are bad, like if they were being bullied, then this can cause aggression on the part of your dog.

• Pain or Discomfort. If your dog is uncomfortable with some fresh cut and is in pain, this can lead to even more aggression.

• Medical Condition. He’s probably sick with a genetic disease or some other illness.

• Some dogs are basically just territorial. If he’s aggressive towards you then he probably doesn’t recognize you as his master. Read more here: Dog Training Aggressive
